Hardware: Mid-end PC equals to ONE processor?! INTEL successfully brought this to reality

October 27, 2010

There you go,

Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 980X 3.33 GHz Processor – Hexa-Core

for around $1000

Note that the word Hexa literally means it has 6 cores in it. Well it has 6 cores in it.. with 3.33GHz.. and L3 12mb cache..

hmm..

SO WHAT?! That price is insanely expensive!

would be reasonable if you have the same opinion as me.

I think it would make more sense if you parallelized a number of lower cost CPUs such us i7 870 for example? The performance wouldn’t make much difference.. More heat dissipating? Even after you added some high performance cooling system, you would get a lower price (or maybe even a greater performance) than this single product.

Anyway, this CPU is actually promoted as the best gaming CPU processor on the market today.

But however the price is too much dont you think??
